Hey friend, whether you are a bridesmaid attending a wedding rehearsal dinner or the bride – this post is for YOU.
As a bride, I was struggling to find anything on pinterest or google that helped me figure out what the heck I should wear. I had gone to a few different rehearsal dinners (my best friends shown above – she is in the leopard print), but everyone’s is so different! After exploring the gram and asking my followers, I thought I would share everything I gathered to hopefully help someone else who is running into the same struggle. I can’t be alone…right??
1. It’s the bride’s choice
This is probably where you are thinking..wow, great advice – not helpful. I promise I am getting somewhere, so just bare with me on this! The bride is in charge of letting her girls know what she expects them to wear for the rehearsal – as in dress code. Does she want it more formal, casual dresses, or casual (jeans and a cute top). My best friend in the photo above just told us all to wear dresses and it worked out! As a bridesmaid – don’t wear white unless the bride specifically wants everyone in white. If you are the bride, you can wear white to stand out because after all – you are the bride. However, it is also your choice to not wear white – there really is not a wrong answer. I am actually still really torn on this (I will share the dresses that I purchased to try below as well as others I thought would be cute)
2. Consistency is key
One thing that might help is thinking about the dress code for the actual wedding. In my opinion, it would be strange to have a formal rehearsal dinner and a boho, casual wedding. They just don’t tie in well together and it likely doesn’t match the bride’s style/personality then. If you are having an elegant, formal wedding, the bride might want long dresses for a more formal feel at the rehearsal. Ladies talk to the other ladies so we can all be on the same page – Bride’s sometimes it is helpful to bring it up in a group chat with all your ladies so everyone can wear a similar dress code. It would be a little awkward if everyone was in jeans and cute top except one bridesmaid who showed up in an elegant gown – oops. For my rehearsal, I am thinking casual dresses (long, midi or short – bridesmaids choice) but I do plan to send them what I am wearing for reference!
3. BRIDE: Do I wear white or whatever I want??
Although this is definitely a question that there is no right or wrong answer to, when I asked my followers this was the result:
4. Where do I buy a rehearsal dinner dress?
I asked my followers this and here is what they said:
- Red Dress
- Petal and Pup
- Pink Lily
- Balic Born
- North and Main Clothing Co.
- Ivy City Co.
- Altar’d State
- Willow and Roan Boutique
I will be sharing the dresses that I ordered once they come in on my instagram in the saved category – “Wedding” if you would like to check them out! I will also try to remember to put them below for you all to see!
